Margin Snail This release is very different from "Mutilation Through Prayer," but is just as powerful in all respects. Vocals are closer to the front in the mix this time, and the bass is still clearly audible but doesn't snap and pop all over this record as it does on their previous release. That doesn't mean it takes a backseat, however. I'd say this album showcases a kind of measured restraint that gives it an even more ominous and bludgeoning vibe than "Mutilation." Where that album went for total savagery, this one goes for a lumbering, eerie intensity. It sounds like something that should serve as the sonic backdrop to the cover art, which is no small feat. Everything this band releases is pure death metal gold. Blood-stained, medieval, blasphemous occult GOLD. Favorite track: Blasphemous Apparition.
